What's the difference between an F1 and an F1b
F1
Goldendoodles are bred in a variety of generations. The F1 is a straight cross between a Poodle and an American or an English Golden Retriever, making the puppies 50% Poodle and 50% Golden Retriever. F1 Goldendoodles are more apt to have straighter, more coarse coats than their F1b counterparts.
F1B
The F1b is a crossback (hence the “b”) of the F1 Goldendoodle to a Poodle, making the puppies 25% Retriever and 75% Poodle. This is a popular generation because these puppies are less likely to shed and are less likely to contribute to allergies, which are characteristics of the Poodle. The coat of an F1b is more likely to be curly, like the Poodle.
